Allergenicity:Thirty-one allergic patients sensitized to beef (ImmunoCAP) were tested, of which 16 reported allergic symptoms after consumption of red meat. Nine subjects showed IgE binding to a 20 kDa protein in IgE immunoblots with cooked beef extract. When tested by ELISA with recombinant Bos d 13, 8/9 subjects (5 allergic and 3 sensitized) and 5/9 subjects (4 allergic and 1 sensitized) had IgE to Bos d 13.0101 and Bos d 13.0201, respectively.
