Allergenicity:Twenty-three P. acerifolia-sensitized patients with allergic rhinitis in spring were tested. All has positive SPT and sIgE (measured by ImmunoCAP) to plane tree pollen extract. Of those 12 (52%) had serum IgE to recombinant Pla a 5, measured by ELISA. Natural purified Pla a 5 was tested by IgE immunoblot and yielded a positive signal in 4/7 (57%) tested sera. nPla a 5 was also tested by BAT and activated basophils from all three tested Pla a 5-sensitized patients.
