| Allergenicity: | Sera from 57 Spanish patients with rhino-conjunctivitis and sensitization to Cupressaceae pollen (positive SPT to J. oxycedrus and/or Cupressus arizonica and/or C. sempervirens) were tested. Of those, 48 (84%) had specific IgE to nJun o 1 as shown by ELISA. nJun o 1 cross-reacted with Cup a 1 and activated human mast cells sersitized with patients' sera. Enzymatic deglycosylation with PNGase A and PNGase F reduced IgE binding to nJun o 1 by 55% and 39%, respectively. In contrast, recombinant Jun o 1 purified from E. coli inclusion bodies failed to bind IgE and to activate mast cells. |
