Allergen Details:

Allergen name: Pap s 2
Allergen source: Major taxonomic group: Plantae basal Mesangiosperms
Order: Ranunculales
Species: Papaver somniferum (Opium poppy)
NCBI Taxomony ID: 3469
Biochemical name:Legumin (11S globulin) seed storage protein
MW(SDS-PAGE):52 kDa (non-reducing), 30 kDa + 20 kDa (reducing)
Allergenicity:Of 36 tested poppy seed-sensitized patients (SPT, sIgE), 10 had allergic symptoms after oral food challenge. Of those, 10 allergic (100%) and 21 tolerant (81%) had IgE to natural Pap s 2 as shown by ELISA. As only the natural allergen was tested, which is a mixture of Pap s 2.0101 and Pap s 2.0201 (as shown by tandem MS), the contributions of the individual isoallergens to IgE binding was not determined.
