Allergen Details

Allergen name: Pap s 3
Allergen source: Major taxonomic group: Plantae basal Mesangiosperms
Order: Ranunculales
Species: Papaver somniferum (Opium poppy)
NCBI Taxomony ID: 3469
Biochemical name:Late embryogenesis abundant protein 5 (LEA-5); small hydrophilic seed protein
MW(SDS-PAGE):10 kDa
Allergenicity:Of 36 tested poppy seed-sensitized patients (SPT, sIgE), 10 had allergic symptoms after oral food challenge. Of those, 8 allergic (80%) and 17 tolerant (65%) had IgE to natural Pap s 3 as shown by ELISA. As only the natural allergen was tested, which is a mixture of Pap s 3.0101 and Pap s 3.0201 (as shown by tandem MS), the contributions of the individual isoallergens to IgE binding was not determined.
Allergenicity reference:PubMed:38734371
Route of allergen exposure:Food
