Allergen Details:
Allergen name: | Pap s 3 |
---|---|
Allergen source: |
Major taxonomic group: Plantae basal Mesangiosperms Order: Ranunculales Species: Papaver somniferum (Opium poppy) |
Biochemical name: | Late embryogenesis abundant protein 5 (LEA-5); small hydrophilic seed protein |
MW(SDS-PAGE): | 10 kDa |
Allergenicity: | Of 36 tested poppy seed-sensitized patients (SPT, sIgE), 10 had allergic symptoms after oral food challenge. Of those, 8 allergic (80%) and 17 tolerant (65%) had IgE to natural Pap s 3 as shown by ELISA. As only the natural allergen was tested, which is a mixture of Pap s 3.0101 and Pap s 3.0201 (as shown by tandem MS), the contributions of the individual isoallergens to IgE binding was not determined. |
