| Allergenicity: | 20 sera from patients allergic to pine nuts (symptoms + SPT) were tested for IgE binding to Pinus yunnanensis seed extract by Western blot. Seven sera (35%) had IgE binding to a 50 kDa protein identified by mass spectrometry as vicilin. Five WB-positive sera were tested by ELISA with purified nPin y 2 and rPin y 2.0101 (expressed in E. coli). All five sera showed IgE binding to both allergens. |
