| Allergenicity: | Sera from 77 cockroach-allergic patients were tested. Symptoms were rhinitis, asthma, urticaria or atopic dermatitis. Specific IgE was detected via ImmunoCAP i6 (German cockroach) and IgE-ELISA (American cockroach extract). Sera from 17 non-atopic donors served as negative controls. In an IgE-ELISA, 55 (71%) and 56 (73%) sera had IgE binding to nPer a 22 and rPer a 22.0101. In an indirect basophil activation test, cells sensitized with 5 pools of ELISA-positive sera were activated by rPer a 22.0101 at 10 µg/mL. |
