| Allergenicity: | Sera were collected from 107 patients during the Artemisia ordosica pollen season. Allergic patients were selected based on typical clinical symptoms of allergic rhinitis, a self-reported history of allergy to A. ordosica and sIgE to A. ordosica extract measured by ELISA. A control group of 50 healthy subjects without any symptoms of allergic rhinitis and no known allergy to A. ordosica pollen was included. IgE from 16 of 107 (15%) allergic patients' sera and 2 of 50 (4%) control sera bound to recombinant Art o 19.0101, expressed in E. coli. The recombinant allergen inhibited IgE binding to A. ordosica pollen extract by up to 24% using a pool of Art o 19-positive sera. |
