| Allergenicity: | Sera were collected from 107 patients during the Artemisia ordosica pollen season. Allergic patients were selected based on typical clinical symptoms of allergic rhinitis, a self-reported history of allergy to A. ordosica and sIgE to A. ordosica extract measured by ELISA. A control group of 50 healthy subjects without any symptoms of allergic rhinitis and no known allergy to A. ordosica pollen was included. IgE from 24 of 107 (22%) allergic patients' sera and none of 50 control sera bound to recombinant Art o 20.0101, expressed in E. coli. The recombinant allergen inhibited IgE binding to A. ordosica pollen extract by up to 27% using a pool of Art o 20-positive sera. |
