Allergen Details

Allergen name: Tri a 46
Allergen source: Major taxonomic group: Plantae Liliopsida (monocots)
Order: Poales
Species: Triticum aestivum (Wheat)
NCBI Taxomony ID: 4565
Biochemical name:rRNA N-glycosylase, ribosome-inactivating protein
Molecular mass:29 kDa
Allergenicity:Sera from 65 wheat-allergic patients (symptoms + sIgE by ImmuoCAP) were tested. Of those, 6 sera (9%) had IgE to a 29 kDa protein in the water-soluble fraction as shown by immunoblot. All 6 sera bound to nTri a 46 in immunoblot as well as to nTri a 46 and rTri a 46 (expressed in E. coli) by ELISA. The natural and recombinant allergen showed comparable inhibitory capacities in an inhibition ELISA with immobilized nTri a 46.
Route of allergen exposure:Food
