WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub-Committee
Allergens to be considered for inclusion in the nomenclature are reviewed by the WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub-Committee, which is currently chaired by Dr. Joana Vitte (University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France) and Dr. Christian Radauer (Medical University of Vienna, Austria). The sub-committee has 24 members from academia, government regulatory agencies and industry who are leading experts in allergen characterization, structure and function (see Table). The sub-committee meets at least annually at international allergy/immunology meetings or online and discusses any proposed changes or additions to the nomenclature.
There is also a committee-at-large, which is open to any scientist with an interest in allergens. Members of the committee-at-large have no voting rights but may take part in discussions and attend meetings.
