WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub-Committee

Allergens to be considered for inclusion in the nomenclature are reviewed by the WHO/IUIS Allergen Nomenclature Sub-Committee, which is currently chaired by Dr. Joana Vitte (University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France) and Dr. Christian Radauer (Medical University of Vienna, Austria). The committee has 23 members from academia, government regulatory agencies and industry who are leading experts in allergen characterization, structure and function (see Table).

The committee meets annually or biannually at international allergy/immunology meetings and discusses any proposed changes or additions to the nomenclature. There is also a committee-at-large, which is open to any scientist with an interest in allergens, to whom decisions made by the Sub-Committee are circulated.
